Frequently Asked Questions

  • A doula provides continuous emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I’m not a medical professional — instead, I complement your midwifery care by being a constant, calming presence. I help with birth preparation, comfort measures during labour, advocacy, and postnatal support including feeding guidance and emotional wellbeing.

  • Absolutely not! I work alongside your birth partner to enhance their role, not replace it. I support them too — giving them tools, confidence and guidance so they can be fully present and involved. Many partners say having a doula helped them feel more confident and less anxious during the birth.

  • I recommend reaching out as early as possible, ideally during your second trimester. This gives us plenty of time to build a relationship, work through your birth preferences and complete hypnobirthing sessions. However, I’m happy to support you at any stage — it’s never too late to benefit from doula support.

  • Hypnobirthing is a method of birth preparation that uses relaxation, breathing techniques and positive visualisation to help you feel calm and in control during labour. It’s not about being “hypnotised” — it’s about understanding how your body works and learning tools to release fear and tension so your body can birth naturally and more comfortably.

  • I provide birth doula services across Surrey, Hampshire and South London. If you’re just outside these areas, please still get in touch as I may be able to accommodate you. All prenatal sessions can be held in person or virtually, depending on your preference.

  • Birth is unpredictable, and I support you no matter what direction your journey takes. Whether you have a natural home birth, an induction, or an emergency caesarean, I’m by your side. My role is to ensure you feel informed, supported and cared for through every decision and every moment.
